A: Takes the power from the panels and charges
the batteries. This is needed to prevent
over charge or cooking of batteries.

A: Direct from Renogy, because Amazon did not
have in stock at the time.
Q: Why Renogy controller?
A: Quality for the price. Plus it is a DC to DC charger and solar MPPT
controller in one, so we can charge the batteries from either solar or from the
truck alternator.
Q: What batteries do we have?
A: Four Renogy Lithium 100 Amp Hour batteries;
for a total of 400 usable AH.

And, how much extra weight did the batteries add?

Sorry JC this got lost in the system some how. Mike has a background in home construction, so it was not difficult for him at all. We replace 2 AGM batteries with 4 lithium, so we only added about an additional 25 pounds. I hope this was helpful.
